"So it was Fatou’s 100 post on Instagram and we were excited about what she’d think of next. It’s always very thrilling to be a part of the thinking process, it made us open our mind and be creative. The atmosphere is always joyful and fun and that came through in our pictures. At the time there wasn’t much representation and diversity on photos that make it viral, Fatou made it her mission to show the beauty of black women. Not seeing yourself in pictures makes you almost think you’re not what beauty is, social media makes you think too much melanin isn’t beautiful, being modest isn’t beautiful it’s oppressive. Fatou showed the world that black women no matter the shade the religion they too are beautiful. She made sure all of her models/clients felt it. Her hyping us all the time every single time she saw us helped me be confident in my own skin and I’ll always thank her for that." -Raneen (Sudan)
